criteria
Below is a list of the general criteria required for living at The House Next Door. We try to be as flexible and accommodating as possible, recognizing that each mother comes with her own unique set of circumstances. If you have questions or wonder if you are eligible, we encourage you to contact the Mikaela Rios, House Manager at: house.manager.thnd@gmail.com.
Mothers must be 18 or fully emancipated at time of residence. Children must be 8 years old or younger at time of initial residence. Two children maximum preferred, per mother.
Mothers must be enrolled at least part-time, working toward their degree. This can include working to complete a GED, technical/trade degree, or higher education degree (Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's). At least part of the classes must be on a physical campus — additional classes may be taken online.
Mothers are expected to maintain a 2.0+ GPA
Both mother and child(ren) must be current on school required vaccines. Mothers are responsible for providing any health insurance needs. A copy of child(ren)’s vaccinations will be required prior to move-in.
If mother has a prior addiction, she must be in recovery for a minimum of 6 months prior to applying.
All residents must agree to abide by The House rules (NO smoking, NO drugs, NO alcohol, NO pets, NO overnight guests).
Costs
Rent is FREE!
Each family pays $80 a month to cover their share of the utilities (water, gas, electric, sewer, trash/recycling) and to cover trash bags and light bulbs.
Each family covers the costs of their own food, insurance, and any personal expenses.
